Form components and adding a form to a page

Purpose

This document gives instructions for adding existing forms to a page and updating their data source. It also gives the content author information about what pages form components can be added to, and gives examples of what pages currently contain form components.

About form components

Form components are used on pages to collect data that is submitted by a website visitor. Only certain forms can be added to certain pages. For a list of which forms can be added to what pages, click here.

How the YVR forms work

YVR forms are made up of form components, and renderings. The form components can be added to a webpage to hold the form renderings, which contain the content that the form components will display.

  • MVC Form
    • NOTE: The MVC form is different from the other form components because it is made using the Sitecore Forms, which is a new feature in Sitecore 9.

  • File Download Form
  • jetSet Parking Form
  • Lost and Found Form
  • Newsletter Signup
  • Noise Complaint Form
  • Nomination Form

Adding a form to a page

  1. For a list of pages different form components can be added to, click here.
  2. In Experience Editor on the page you want to edit, select a component. You’ll know when you’ve selected a component because your mouse will change to a hand with a pointing finger.
  3. Select the ‘add a content’ button on the menu that has appeared above or below the component you have just selected.
  4. Choose where you want to add your new form component by selecting any of the ‘Add here’ buttons above or below the existing components on the page.
  5. Select the form that you want to add to a page, and press the Select button.
  6. Choose the associated content that you would like the form component to have by selecting an option from the list that has appeared. Press the OK button on the bottom right.
  7. Press the save icon in the top navigation ribbon to save your work
